It is undeniable that, over the last couple of decades, men have become less prejudiced about looking after themselves. Not only are men more open about discussing and buying clothes, shoes and accessories, but they are also more open-minded and careful about their skincare routines. These days, most men make the time in their daily habits to moisturise their faces in the morning after showering and shaving. However, not many men have realised that selecting an appropriate face wash product is also an important step.
In general, the majority of men still use unsuitable products to wash their faces, such as abrasive soaps or scented body shower gels. This is not ideal when one thinks that, unlike other body parts, our facial skin is permanently uncovered and subject to all sorts of pollution and temperature variations throughout the day, forcing it to react quickly to the elements by becoming dehydrated or producing excessive sebum that blocks pores. As such, specific wash products should be used on the face as they tend to have more balanced pH levels. Ideally, products with little or no perfume or colour should be preferred as they tend to be healthier for facial skin.
The Style Examiner recently heard from the folks at Ursa Major, whose outstanding shaving cream we reviewed previously (check it out HERE), who told us about their latest products, which included a new facial wash. After they sent us a sample of their ‘Fantastic Face Wash’, we tried it for a few weeks and are happy to report that this is a product that all men should consider buying and use as part of a daily skincare routine. This concentrated foaming gel cleanser works gently on the skin to remove oil and grime, dissolving dead surface skin by a gentle exfoliating process that clears blocked pores without stripping skin of moisture.
Like all products by Ursa Major, 51% of the ingredients in the ‘Fantastic Face Wash’ are organic, and 99.5% are from natural sources produced mostly by family-owned, sustainable growers located as close as possible to Vermont, where the company is based. The formula includes Aloe Vera, and a blend of essential oils such as cedar, spearmint, lime, lemon, rosemary, black spruce, owyhee, vetiver and lavender. In addition, the face wash excludes manmade products like petrochemicals, sulfates, parabens, glycols, silicones, and synthetic fragrance or colour.
The experience of using the ‘Fantastic Face Wash’ is enjoyable and one can feel it working nicely on the skin as it is applied. If left for 30 to 60 seconds, the oils in the gel sip into the pores and exfoliate by cleaning the impurities out, unlike most exfoliating products that contain harsher particles that can be too abrasive when rubbed on the skin. After using it in the shower, the skin doesn’t feel dry or cracked; instead, it feels nourished and clean. This is most definitely a product that The Style Examiner has adopted and one that we would not hesitate to recommend highly to our readers!
