Dior Pre-Fall 2013

Raf Simons has unveiled images of his first Pre-Fall collection for Dior, confirming that he has adapted his creative genius to the spirit of the Paris maison in a very adroit and triumphant way. As this is Simons’s first collection for Dior that is not to be shown on the runway, the designer opted for revealing the looks in the context where they come to life, the atelier.

The collection’s garments vary from fitted tuxedo suits to cocktail dresses with asymmetric lines, and include floor-length skirts, “bar” jackets, ballgown tops, coatdresses, duffle coats, and coats and dresses with lines that curve around the hips while accentuating the waist line that evoke designs that made Christian Dior popular. Fabrics mirrored this diversity, with luxury denim, silk gazar, featherweight taffeta, gauze and tulle featuring diverse textures and patterns such as Prince of Wales checks, herringbone and floral prints.
