John Galliano Returns to Fashion at Oscar de la Renta

Fashion designer John Galliano, who was sacked from Christian Dior in March 2011 following an anti-Semitic outburst in a Parisian café, is returning to fashion by taking up a three-week design residency at Oscar de la Renta in New York. The move, which suggests Galliano’s comeback after two years away from the spotlight, is rumoured to have been orchestrated by Anna Wintour, editor-in-chief of US Vogue magazine.

Speaking of the news, John Galliano said, “I am grateful to Oscar beyond words for inviting me to spend time with him in the familiar surroundings of a design studio. His support and faith in me is humbling.”

Oscar de la Renta added, “John and I have known each other for many years and I am a great admirer of his talent. He has worked long and hard on his recovery and I am happy to give him the opportunity to reimmerse himself in the world of fashion and reacclimate in an environment where he has been so creative.”
