British fashion brand River Island has announced a collaboration with designer Georgia Hardinge (whose work The Style Examiner covered previously HERE and HERE) through its Design Forum programme to produce a 14-piece Spring/Summer 2013 collection that will be available in stores from early April 2013.
British born, Hardinge graduated from the Parsons Paris School of Art and Design and launched her first collection during London Fashion Week in 2009. Since then, she has collaborated with international companies such as Victoria’s Secret, Lancôme, L’Oreal, Swarovski and Samsung, and has also dressed some high-profile clients including Beyonce, Florence Welch, Lady Gaga, Jessie J and Nicole Sherzinger.
For her collaboration with River Island (to be launched during London Fashion Week in February 2013 via a short film created and directed by film maker Alex Turvey), Hardinge sought inspiration in the work of Swiss surrealist painter and sculptor H.R. Giger. With a predominantly monochromatic colour palette, the focus is on the fit of the pieces to flatter the female silhouette with a three-dimensional sculptural element.
