Accessories brand Coach has unveiled its flagship store in the neighbourhood of Omotesando, Tokyo. Conceived by architectural practice OMA, the store’s design was centred on the reinterpretation of traditional wooden shelf displays as modular transparent glass boxes stacked from floor to ceiling. To achieve this effect, OMA resorted to 210 clear shelving units which were arranged in a herringbone pattern. This structure not only makes up the exterior envelope of the store but it also allows Coach’s products to surround customers in numerous combinations and layouts.
