Sydney-based architect Christopher Polly was responsible for the renovation of Cosgriff House, a family home located in Annandale, a suburb of Inner West Sydney in the state of New South Wales, Australia. The project entailed the conversion of a small bungalow into a two-storey house and doubling the residence’s floor area.
At ground floor level, a new bathroom, bedroom and study room were added. This floor is connected by a new staircase to an entire new extra floor underneath that includes a large open-plan living and dining room that leads onto the garden via glazed panels. The refurbished house features an all-black exterior combining fibre-cement panels with black windows (with louvred shutters) and door surrounds, designed to complement the brown tones of the original brickwork facade.
