Cy Choi Spring/Summer 2014 Menswear

One of the menswear collections that I have been looking forward to seeing in stores is the one that Korean brand Cy Choi conceived for Spring/Summer 2014. Unveiled back in June 2013 during Paris men’s fashion week under the title ‘Image’, the collection is underpinned by an inquisitive intention to play on preconceived notions of clothing that I find extremely appealing. In spite of resorting to a conventional palette of black and white (with a few dashes of navy and khaki), Choi continues his intention to deconstruct traditional tailoring by layering fabrics on overcoats and jackets, by fraying the garment’s edges, and by juxtaposing slim-fit pieces with voluminous shapes.
