Joseph taps Givenchy talent to revitalise menswear
British fashion label Joseph has announced Mark Thomas as its new menswear head designer, a move that indicates a significant commitment to and investment in its menswear offering. Thomas, who most recently worked at Givenchy (following stints at Neil Barrett and Burberry), has been working with Joseph’s current creative director, Louise Trotter, to improve the label’s menswear line and the first results come in the form of a collection for Autumn/Winter 2014.
Like Joseph’s womenswear designs, the new collection under Thomas’s creative guidance shows a focus on black and white garments, and boxy cropped silhouettes infused with an elegant French tailoring sensibility. Also as part of plans to expand Joseph’s customer base and stockists in the next coming seasons, the brand will offer menswear for wholesale for the first time since it was founded in London in 1972.
