Y-3 x Peter Saville Spring/Summer 2014 footwear

One of the Spring/Summer 2014 footwear collections that I am looking forward to examining in detail when it hits the stores soon is the one that uses prints and typography created by graphic designer Peter Saville for fashion brand Y-3.

Named ‘Meaningless Excitement’ (as an ambiguous critique and celebration of internet culture), the collection was inspired by words and images used in social media, personal blogs and online forums. Produced by sports label Adidas, it features a colour palette of acid-bright colours and materials such as leather straps, elastic cord ties, netted fabrics, and silver foil to illustrate the online vibrancy generated by individual opinion and anonymous collective communication.
