The shortlist for the 2014 RIBA Stirling Prize is:

  • Everyman Theatre, Liverpool, by Haworth Tompkins
  • Library of Birmingham by Mecanoo

  • London School of Economics Saw Swee Hock Student Centre by O’Donnell + Tuomey Architects

With the exception of Mecanoo and Renzo Piano, all architectural practices on this year’s shortlist have either won or been shortlisted for the RIBA Stirling Prize previously, with Zaha Hadid having won the gong twice (in 2010 for the MAXXI in Rome and in 2011 for the Evelyn Grace Academy in London), and Feilden Clegg Bradley once (in 2008 for the Accordia housing in Cambridge). Haworth Tompkins were shortlisted in 2007 and O’Donnell + Tuomey return to the shortlist for the fifth time, having featured on the shortlist in 1999, 2005, 2011, and 2012.
