Joseph Turvey Spring/Summer 2015 Menswear

British fashion designer Joseph Turvey presented his Spring/Summer 2015 Menswear collection during the latest edition of London Collections: Men in June 2014. Named ‘Tank’, the collection (Turvey’s sixth under his name since graduating fromn the London College of Fashion) was inspired by the Koi carp and the depiction of its sinuous colours and shapes throughout the history of Oriental art and design, in particular by Yakuza body artists, and by the anthropomorphic treatments of the fish in Japanese culture.

Enhancing his own hand-drawn illustrations featuring delicate and bright watercolours on silk twills and brushed cottons, Turvey incorporates iridescent organza, embroidered tulle and hand-sewn sequins into his garments to replicate the Koy’s shimmering scales, imbuing conventional menswear staples such as shorts, bombers and biker jackets with a sense of luxurious sophistication.
